Frontispieces refers to the little known convention born in the 17th century where title pages of books are accompanied by illustrations on the facing page ('Front + Piece'). Rather than decorating or illustrating the story behind the title however, Erik uses the title page (torn from his own collection of pocket books) as a point of departure for new narratives.
